Genesis 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

This Study is called Alpha and Omega we are approaching the book of Genesis and the book of Revelation in a somewhat unique manner. Our study begins with a verse by verse fleshing out of the content of God’s chosen words given to his chosen authors. In this lesson we are going to look at The Seven Spirits of God”; “The Spirit of God” and “The Spirit of the Lord.”

The approach taken in this lesson will be a unique way of obtaining meaning from the book of Revelation to Genesis. Thereby, God will reveal his “Spirit” to us, from the “end” to the “beginning” of His creative work”.

This lessons current message came from John to seven Asian churches, located in Asia Minor. (Turkey). Throughout the Bible and especially Revelation, seven is the number for completeness or Perfection. While none of the chosen churches were perfect they were possibly emblematic of all churches throughout history.

 The Seven Spirits of God

Our focus is on the Church of Sardis and more importantly we are focused on The Seven Spirits of God.” From a reading of Rev. 3:1-13 it can be said that Sardis was a church facing Crisis and lacking in commitment as they are trying hard to give the appearance of a spiritually alive church when in Reality they are spiritually dead. The words written to them and about them are from: “Him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars, (seven angels of the seven churches, perhaps pastors).

Christ revealed Himself to the church of Sardis as the one who “hath the seven Spirits of God, a reference to the sevenfold fullness and perfection of the Holy Spirit that rested upon Christ. (Rev. 1:4; 5:6)

Isa 11; 2-5: 1The Spirit of the lord will rest upon him (Christ) ─ The Spirit of: ─ 2Wisdom and 3understanding ─ 4council and 5power ─ 6knowledge and of the 7fear of the Lord ─ and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.

From Revelation 4:5 we learn of “seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God.These differ from those in Rev. 1:1, 20; they are blazing torches permanently before the throne of God (emblematic of the wrath and judgment of God to be poured upon the ungodly), a reference to the Holy Spirit in his fullness and perfection. Other forms that the Holy Spirit used to manifest his presence include, as a dove, at Christ’s baptism and cloven tongues of fire at Pentecost.

Then In Revelation 5:6 The Lamb of Christ is given a threefold introduction. He is no longer at Gods right hand he has relocated to the center of the throne a way of saying that he has been given the scepter of iron, his symbol of POWER, to rule the waiting universal world. All humanity, those who are living and all who have ever lived. Christ’s appearance is of a slain lamb still bearing the blood stains and wounds of his death.

Next the mystery of the seven spirits of God is solved. The slain looking lamb has seven horns and seven eyes. These seven horns and seven eyes are proclaimed to be the seven spirits of God sent out into all the world. Only the Triune Godhead consisting of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit possess the fullness of omnipotence unlimited power. Omnipresence being everywhere at one time Omniscience universal knowledge; knowing everything. The lamb is the ultimate picture of completion, perfection and power presence and knowledge. He is the judge of all nations, powers and principalities for all of time.

Working backward from this point in scripture we come to 1 John 4:2 which tells us:This is how you can recognize the Spirit of GodEvery spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the fleshis from God, (Note the triune reference)

Spirit of the Lord

Following the pattern of New Testament to Old Testament for the study of the Spirit of the Lord what is obvious in the New Testament is that both God and Christ are absent in every case.

The Lordis the Spirit. This statement in the last New Testament reference to The Spirit of the Lord should be linked with what is said at the end of verse 6: “the Spirit gives life.”It is only by turning to the Lord (V.16) that the condemnation and sentence of death pronounced by the law on the law-breaker are annulled and replaced by the free life-giving grace of the new covenant. There is a close relationship between the Spirit of Christ and the Holy Spirit. Both are said to dwell in the believer.( Ro 8:9; Gal 2:20) In Ro 8:9 the Spirit, the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ and Christ all seem to be used interchangeably. In Acts 16:6-7 the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Jesus appear to be one and the same. Perhaps this is because the Holy Spirit Proceeds from the Father and the Son, and the first two persons of the Trinity accomplish their purposes through the Spirit.

The Spirit who gives life is the “Spirit of the living God” who in fulfillment of the promise of the new covenant, writes the same law of God written on stone tablets in the old covenant ‘on tablets of human hearts. He thus provides the believer with love for God’s law, which previously he had hated, and with power to keep it, which previously he had not possessed.

To summarize our findings from Genesis to Revelation Gods Spirit and his Word the light and darkness, the Spirit hovering over the waters, The seven Spirits of God, The Spirit of God, The spirit of the Lord are in a mysterious and unexplainable way responsible for creation of universal life. Without them nothing was made that has been made from beginning to end.

John Chapter one gives us more understanding and speaks of the beginning, the Word, God, life, light, darkness, understanding or lack thereof, a witness, belief, truth, every man, the world, lack of recognition of the creator by his own, reception from some, reward as sons of God for recognition of “the light of the world”, rebirth not naturally nor by the decision of a man but born of God, “The Word” became flesh dwelling among men, he was and is the glory of the Father, full of grace and truth.

AlphA & ΩOMEGAΩ- Formless and Empty, Darkness Was Over the Surface Of The Deep

Formless and Empty, Darkness Was Over the Surface Of The Deep,

The beginnings of and the present day status of Israel as a God-chosen nation have been briefly addressed in lessons 1 and 2. In this lesson the status of the earth as described in Genesis 1:2 will be the focus.

The first descriptive word is Formless

To have form is to have structure or shape. It would be logical to assume that in the NOW of verse 2 there was no structure, no set arrangement or relationship of parts, elements, no air, fire, chemistry or physics or organisms. Instead there was emptiness, nothing, barrenness, stark blankness.

To give form often requires a mold or pattern. To worshipers of God He is the origin of all that is was or ever will be. God’s introduction in Genesis 1:1 credits him with the ordering and creation of the heavens and the earth.

God then was the mold or pattern-maker of everything created. It was God who ordered, separated, gathered together and gave form to formlessness. God made, filled, brought to reality, brought to existence, and brought substance to stark emptiness and nothingness.

To have form requires a body Webster’s dictionary says, especially of a human being.  Details of mans creation will be covered in verses to follow. …. Genesis 2:7Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

To have form requires a set way of doing something. Imagine the chaos of random universal planets, stars, and objects without restricted boundaries. Not under the control and direction of an all-knowing Creator-God to constrain their movement through time and space. Every detail of universal importance was addressed by God. He simply spoke order into existence. He set boundaries for all that he created. After speaking things into existence the simple phrase “God saw that it was good” was all the insurance needed for his creations.

God’s prescribed order of words and action, his conduct regulated by convention, custom, behavior and his manner of speaking things into being are awesome.

God gave form to the universe by creating endless kinds, species and varieties of all his creations. No two creations are completely identical.

The Bible has a great deal to say about form. However a word search for the word formless, yields only one scripture in addition to Genesis 1:2.

Jeremiah 4:23 I looked at the earth, and it was formless and empty; and at the heavens, and their light was gone.

This is a part of a prophetic vision, given Jeremiah from God, of the primeval chaos returning the “light” was gone.

A keyword search for form yields six pages or 137 separate scripture references from which we will select only a few.

Exodus 20:4 You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

Deuteronomy 4:15 [ Idolatry Forbidden ] You saw no form of any kind the day the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully,

These scriptures remind us of a fact that Israel and the nations continually ignored in the past and at present.

God is a jealous God. He is not only the creator but expects total worship and allegiance. His love and blessings are conditioned on the loyalty due him for bringing form and life into being.

Isaiah 45:7  Iformthe light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things. Isaiah 45:18 For this is what the LORD says— he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited— he says: “I am the LORD, and there is no other.  Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. (Recall our text… Now the earth was Formless)There is no other God. Those who choose to deny the true God with reverence, admiration, esteem, and adoration or who give such homage to any image or invented deity will experience God’s wrath at a time he chooses.(see Ex. 20:5, 34:14; Dt. 4:24, 6:15, 32:21; Jos. 24:19; Eze. 16:38, 16:42, 23:25, 36:6; Joel 2:18, Na 1:2; Zep. 3:8; Zec. 1:14, 8:2; 2Co 11:2.

Isaiah 43:7 Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth…everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

Romans 12:5 So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Colossians 2:9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,

Luke 3:22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

Galatians 4:19 My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you,

To those formed by God for his glory, those who are aware of and give God proper honor and respect and reverence the word’s above and many more are indicative of God’s acceptance and blessing.

The second and third descriptive words in Genesis 1: 2 are empty and darkness. The words below are descriptive of the empty Dark state.

Containing nothing, vacant, unoccupied, without reality or substance; lacking in effect, since, sincerity, hollow, bare, clear, blank, unfilled, unfurnished, unoccupied, vacant, void, lacking, wanting, barren, stark.

Partly or wholly without light, black deep shade, gloomy, dismal, without knowledge or culture absent of knowledge or understanding, obscure, ignorance.

The scripture passages below give a biblical perspective of Empty and Darkness

Job 26:7 He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.

Job 37:18

Can you join Him in spreading out the skies, hard as a mirror of cast bronze? (A bronze sky symbolizes unrelenting heat. The hard mirror-like surface would prevent the penetration of rain.)

1 Peter 1:18For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,

All the silver and gold in the world will be of no use to its owner or their ancestors when God requires an accounting for the way they chose to honor or dishonor Him.

Isaiah 32:6 For fools speak folly, their hearts are bent on evil: They practice ungodliness and spread error concerning the LORD; the hungry they leave empty and from the thirsty they withhold water.

God sees us for who we are and will judge us Accordingly

Matthew 12:36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they

have spoken.

You and you alone will be held accountable for the choice made in exercising your free will to accept or reject Gods offer of Salvation.

Ephesians 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. In this scripture we find a contrast of redemption to empty. In the Bible to redeem means to free someone from something by paying a penalty or a ransom. Jesus redeems sinners from the curse of the law. The ransom price was Christ’s blood. The empty life of the sinful person is replaced and the result is the “forgiveness of sin,” or justification. The New Testament stresses the emptiness of pagan life.

Genesis 15:12 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

In the fourth verse of the account of creation, after speaking Light into existence; God makes his first distinction or partition.  God made it obvious that there is a disjointed relationship between light and darkness. God saw that the light was “good”; he separated the light from the darkness. Darkness and light cannot coexist.

He is the bridge between light and darkness. To escape spiritual darkness one must ask God to shine light on them.

Romans 1:21

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Knowing God without accepting and honoring and committing your life to his service and leadership and without proper fear and reverence is an eternal death sentence.

Ephesians 4:17-19

They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given

themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.

2 Sa. 22:29

You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light.

Ps.  18:28

You, O Lord keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.

Ps 112:4

Evan in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man.

1 Jn. 1:5

This is the message that we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

The sin and gloom of Godless men is expressed in Jude 1: 3-16. Verse 13 says:

They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up in their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever

Eph 4:17

So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

Thank God for the Light.

Now the Earth Was

Genesis 1:2

2Now the earth was[a] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

The first lesson in this series ended With God’s covenant promise to Israel declaring his choice to make the Israelite nation His treasured possession out of all nations on the earth though all nations are his.

What was the price for this choice?… “Full obedience and keeping God’s covenant”

God also said the following about Israel, whom he has chosen, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you. Jer. 31:3.

God also let Israel know in addition to his choice of them he was fulfilling covenants made to their fore fathers.

The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. 8But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Dt. 7:7-8

Renald E. Showers, says in summary of Old Testament scholar H. J. Zobel’s, first of three, principles; about the mercy of God towards Israel:

God’s attitudes that prompted His merciful actions for the Israelites were his love for them and his commitment to keep the covenant that he swore into effect with their ancestors.”

 (1)  God’s mercy, per H. J. Zobel, involves action that is prompted by an attitude. It is an act that protects or improves life; that alleviates suffering, calamity, loss, disappointment, and sorrow.

IsraelI Have Loved with an Everlating Love

Next in the series of summaries of Zobel’s three principals involved in God’s mercy:

 (2) God’s Mercyalways involves interpersonal relationships.

In summary Renald Showers says, Moses indicated that God established a unique, interpersonal relationship with the people of Israel: 6 For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.”

 The Third principal involved in God’s mercy per Zobel;

(3)    God’s mercy must endure and be reliable throughout time for the sake of a tolerable interpersonal relationship.

Quoting Renald Showers : King David wrote “ Who is like your people, like Israel, the one nationon the earth whom God went to redeem for Himself as a peopleYou have made Your people Israel Your very own peopleforever; and You LORD, have become their God” (2 Sam. 7:23-24).

Because God’s mercy toward the people of Israel involves His commitment to keep His covenant with them, and because He established that covenant with them forever, He will never allow Israel to be annihilated. There will always be Jewish people to experience His mercy or loving-kindness.

God has promised that despite Israel’s sins, it, (his mercy), will never be destroyed. (Nor will the Israelite nation).

Deuteronomy 4:30-31

When you are in distress, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, when you turn to the LORD your God and obey His voice (for the LORD your God is a merciful God), he will not forsake you nor destroy you,nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.

Additionally in Jerimiah 30:11 God said ,

I am with you, says the LORD, to save you; though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you,yet I will not make a complete end of you. But I will correct you in justice, and will not let you go altogether unpunished.”

The apostle Paul told the Gentiles, Concerning the gospel they [the people of Israel] are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are IRREVOCABLE. (Romans 11:28-29. )

In An article in Israel My Glory magazine, (September/October 2011), Thomas C.

Simcox writes:

“Today the world seems to think the way to peace is to dismantle Israel and give it to the Arabs. David Bar Illian called this “ the peace of the grave.” Since his death the Middle East has grown no friendlier to the Jewish people. When CBS foreign correspondent Lara Logan covered the Egyptian revolution in Cairo’s Tahrir Square in February, a mob of Muslem men beat and sexually assaulted her, shouting ”Jew, Jew!” Logan is not Jewish. The word Jew was simply the worst thing they could think to call her

Yet someday Egypt will serve the God of Israel: Isa. 19:21-22Then the LORD will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the LORD in that day, and will make sacrifice and offering; yes, they will make a vow to the LORD and perform it. And the LORD will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it; they will return to the Lord, and He will be entreated by them and heal them.

…In that day, Israel will possess all the land promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and will enjoy peace like a river:

Isa. 66-12 For this is what the Lord says: I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream; you will nurse and be carried on her arm and dandled on her knees. . .

Today Israelis must work with a spade in one hand and a gun in the other. But a new day is coming. . . .You shall no longer be termed Forsaken… but you shall be called Hephzibah [literally, “my delight is in her”] and your land Beulah [‘married]. They shall no longer be a prey for the nations, nor shall beasts of thelanddevour them; but they shall dwell in safty, and no one shall make them afraid (Isa. 62:4; Ezek. 34;28)

From Israel My Glory Magazine Sept. Oct. 2011:

Doing the right thing is not always easy. It often requires courage and involves standing up for what you believe despite opposition. Recently two men have done the right thing regarding Israel.

At the annual Group of eight(G-8) conference, leaders of France, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, Russia, and United States meet to discuss world events and issues.

This year’s G-8 summit was held in Deauville France, where the United States proposed that leaders endorse a statement advocating Israel’s retreat to pre-1967 borders as a precondition for peace negotiations. This position they were told, was “nothing new.”

Actually, it was new. In fact, no sitting American president had ever suggested it publically. Six of the seven other leaders backed the stance. However unanimity was needed to push the proposal through.

One man, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, voted no, thus making a joint statement impossible. Harper defended Israel, standing by a promise he had made in November 2010 on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

When Israel, the only country in the world whose very existence is under attack, is consistently and conspicuously singled out for condemnation, I believe we are morally obligated to take a stand. . . . As long as I am Prime Minister, whether it is at the United Nations, the Francophonie, or anywhere else, Canada will take that stand whatever the cost. I say this, not because it is the right thing to do, but because history shows us, and the ideology of the anti-Israeli mob tells us all too well if we listen to it, that those who threaten the existence of the Jewish People are a threat to all of us.

God promised Abraham,I will bless those who bless you and…curse him who curses you” (Gen. 12:3)

Thanks also to U. S. Rep. Dan Burton (R-In) for sponsoring H. R. 1006, the Jerusalem Embassy and Recognition Act of 2011. In an attempt to get the American government to do what it voted to do 16 Years ago. Both houses of Congress overwhelmingly voted to relocate the American embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem by May 1999. Senate vote 93 to 5; House vote 374 to 37; by what standard of political democratic reason can 42 votes against prevail over 467 ?

What are you waiting for America keep your word?!

A shoot will come from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit, The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him─the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, The Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord─ and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by with he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his hears; but with righteousnesshe will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor  of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.

Isa. 11: 1-4

“Israel has no better friend Than America. And America has no better friend than Israel. We stand together to defend democracy. We stand together to advocate peace. We stand together to fight terrorism. . . .In an unstable Middle East, Israel is the one anchor of stability. In a region of shifting alliances, Israel is Americas unwavering ally.

Israel has always been Pro-American.  Israel will always be ProAmerican. My friends you do not need to do nation building in Israel. We’re already built. You do not need to export democracy to Israel. We’ve already got it. You do not need to send American troops to defend Israel. We defend ourselves. You’ve been very generous in giving us toolsto do the job of defending Israel on our own Thank you all.”

Genesis 2:5  Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground,

Using the data above we can surmise that the above verse is saying at the present time on  earth ─being now at the present time;currently, nowadays, presently, right now, today there were no shrubs or plant life and that the life giving rain was not yet available to enable and sustain growth.

Nor was there humanity to work the ground─no living breathing, existing, liveing, subsisting human to cultivate such growth.

In fact there was no Earth.─ the loose surface material in which plants naturally grow─. No clods, earth, ground, mold, soil, blackland, clay, gault [chiefly British], gley, guck (or gook), gumbo, kaolin, muck, mud; dust, gravel, sand; humus, loam, topsoil; alluvium, colluvium, detritus, loess, marl, sediment, shingle, silt; duff, mull; subsoil, substratum.

There was only formless and empty darkness, over extremely deep waters. Creation was yet to take place there was not yet even a heavenly realm according to the fourth verse of chapter two of Genesis.

Genesis 6:11
Nowtheearthwascorrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence.

Moving ahead to the 6th chapter and 11th verse of the beginnings of humanity and all creation; what a contrast to the void found in our first verse. Having only a solitary Spirit of God hovering over the waters.

In this─ Now─

We find a corrupted earth and a disappointed and angry God. He created GOOD humanity; man and woman.

In this Now─ all that exists in earth and in the heavens and seas has become corrupt. Satan and sin along with deceit, death, curses, violence and all negative influences are   Now─.

The earth is no longer under the control of man but has been forfeited to Satan and his imps who occupy this creation. They have an evil position of leadership and influence over humanity from birth. Humans are now in need of Grace, mercy and redemption to regain a right or GOOD standing with God.

Genesis 7:4
Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.”

How swiftly corruption has driven GOOD from creation. In this Now on his earth, of all humanity God finds only one man and his family worthy of grace and preservation.

Noah His wife his Sons and their wives are given a chance to survive in a manmade Ark.

God himself gave the detailed instructions for the design of the Ark.

Along with his family God instructs Noah to preserve two of every living unclean creature and its mate and seven of every clean creature and its mate.

God the master planner was sustaining Noah and his family and the creatures with him for the present and post flood era.

Another beginning is assured for Noah and those with him in the ark.

Exodus 9:15
For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth.

This “now” of the exodus, according to the NIV introduction to Genesis, took place in approximately 1446B.C.

The statement in the verse above is from God to Moses.  Signs from God so far in demonstration of his power to Pharaoh have included changing Moses brother Aaron’s staff into a snake. A feat also accomplished by Pharaoh’s magicians.

This was followed by the Plague of blood. Using his staff Aaron struck the water of the Nile and all the water was changed to blood, this also was duplicated by the magicians of Pharaoh.

Next God used a plague of frogs which covered the land of Egypt. This also was copied by the Egyptian magicians.

A plague of Gnats followed and the Egyptian Magicians could not duplicate this plague. In fact they told Pharaoh that this was a demonstration of power by the finger of God.

Pharaoh was hard of heart and ignored them.

God Then afflicted the Egyptians and Pharaoh with a plague of flies. This was followed by a plague of death to the livestock of the Egyptians which resulted in the death of their horses, donkeys, camels, cattle, sheep and goats.

Pharaoh sent men to investigate and found not one animal in Israel had died. Yet he was unyielding to God’s request for the freedom of Israel. A plague of boils on the Egyptians also failed to gain their release.

Our text is found in the upcoming plague of hail. Here are the Words of the Lord to Moses concerning this plague…

The Plague of Hail

13 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me, 14 or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth. 15For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth.16But I have raised you up[a] for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. 17 You still set yourself against my people and will not let them go. 18 Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm that has ever fallenon Egypt, from the day it was founded till now. 19 Give an order now to bring your livestock and everything you have in the field to a place of shelter, because the hail will fall on every man and animal that has not been brought in and is still out in the field, and they will die.’”

It requires a plague of locusts, darkness and the death of the firstborn of men and

cattle including Pharaoh’s own son to win freedom for God’s people Israel.

Exodus 19:5
Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine,

This “NOW” finds Israel at yet another Beginning point in their history. Already the scripture has revealed the beginning of all creation, inclusive of man. Created in the very image of God; Man’s father and mother, living in a sinless environment, violate the only law and become sinful cursed and subject to death. A legacy they bestow on all humanity to follow.

Soon the violence and corruption of man leads to the death of all humanity and animal life save those God sheltered in an Ark of his design.

When the flood waters recede and the sheltered animals and the humans disembark another beginning has arrived.

After years of subjection as the servants of Egypt; God delivers his people Israel from bondage.  The above text is reflective of God’s promise through his chosen leader Moses to Israel at this beginning.

Expanding the text a bit to include verses 1-6 gives God’s full message and his conditions to Israel for becoming his treasured possession out of all nations.

1 In the third month after the Israelites left Egypt—on the very day—they came to the Desert of Sinai. 2 After they set out from Rephidim, they entered the Desert of Sinai, and Israel camped there in the desert in front of the mountain.3 Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the house of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: 4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you[a] will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”

From the Heart! The Gospel of John and the Promises Given By Jesus

From the Heart!

The Gospel of John and the Promises Given By Jesus of Eternal Life

Have you ever feared the White Throne Judgment of Christ? Have you struggled with an anxiety of having hidden sin and past deeds paraded before you on that awesome and fearful day of judgement? Do you have reservations when certain scriptures are read that remind you of offences in your past or present for which the penalty under Law is death?

Have I got some good news for you from the apostle John. Jesus was an intimate acquaintance of John and the scriptures refer to John as the disciple Jesus loved. Perhaps it was the listening ear of John that made him a valued person. When I get to John in my bible reading I slow down and savor every word. So much of this chapter is Christ talking and teaching I can hardly wait for another study. I have pretended to be one of the lost Jews to whom so much of Christ’s message was addressed. This lost and blind nation of Israel, which God chose to live with and from whom he had to depart, are the heart of Christ’s earthly message.

Christ’s gift of salvation to the gentiles was fulfilled after his death by an unlikely Jewish zealot named Paul, who hated and

persecuted and punished followers of Christ. There are very few words needed to explain the scriptures below, as they are the very words of Jesus. My hope is that you pay attention to all the words of Jesus. Accept Him as your savior and receive his promise of eternal redemption. Remember this, the wages of sin is death; not just physical death but so much worse …ETERNAL DEATH.

John Chapter 5: 24“I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life Notice this is present tence it is a guarantee to the faithful who continue in the love and protection of Christ NOW! and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. 25 I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead, …(spiritually dead)…, will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live …(listen, hear and repent and live)… 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. 28 “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29 and come out—those who have done good will rise to live…(Now is the time of salvation, repent now)… and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned…(Do not let yourself deny the saving grace of Jesus dying in sin is an eternal death)… . 30 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. John Chapter 6 35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away (If you fill a tug at the center of your being you are being called to repentance, Yield Now!). 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” You will have “condemned yourself” if you deny Jesus as your personal Savior only you can make the choice for “eternal security”. It is was and always has been God’s “intention” for you. HOWEVER IT IS YOUR CHOICE! 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” As I said above it is was and always has been gods “intention” for you to serve him. But it is your Choice! 53 Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. IT IS WHAT CHRIST DID IN GIVING HIS LIFE AND SHEDDING HIS BLOOD THAT MADE THE DIFFERENCE FOR ALL WHO ACCEPT HIS SARIFICE FOR THEIR REDEMPTION.58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. John Chapter -8 12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” 23 But he continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be,[a] you will indeed die in your sins.” 34 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 51 I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.” …Meaning spiritual death or the second death… John Chapter -9 39 Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.” Walking in the true faith and protection of Christ’s forgiveness blinds one to sinful desires and actions. John Chapter -11 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.

Do you believe this?”

John Chapter -14 15 “If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” John Chapter -15 1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. 9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 17 This is my command: Love each other. John Chapter -17 John 17 New International Version 1984 (NIV1984) John 17 Jesus Prays for Himself 1 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. Jesus Prays for His Disciples 6 “I have revealed you[a] to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. 13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify[b] them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. Jesus Prays for All Believers 20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

Jesus answered, ” It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’ “

Satan tempts Christ for forty days: Luke 4:1-13 Satan offers Jesus all the kingdoms of this world usurped from Adam. LK 4:8) Jesus answered, ” It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’ ”

At the very beginning of Jesus ministry the devil makes his purpose known. Ever since he wrested God’s appointed authority over the earth from Adam he has been awaiting his opportunity to take eternal control of all creation from God.

Satan may have been attempting to take advantage of Jesus mortal weakness. Mistakenly thinking that in his character there would be a weakness for power and a lust for authority that could be tempted to circumvent his Fathers plan for his life… After all his cunning had deceived God’s first Adam.

Just a short time before this Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist as he was praying heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: you are my Son, whom I love: with you I am well pleased.

Being the incarnate son of God and having been fully fortified with the power of the third person of the trinity, we are told that the Spirit of whom Christ had been indwelt was leading him through the temptations by Satan.

Satan it is said was able to instantly reveal all the world’s kingdoms and the extent of their authority and their splendor to Jesus. These kingdoms and their authority he had usurped from Adam and he now boasts that he will give them to Jesus if he will worship him.

The Spirit filled incarnate son of God, “without missing a beat”, disarms the tempter with these magnificent words. “It is written: “Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.

Later in his Ministry Jesus reveals himself to a very unlikely person. Unlikely, as she was a Samaritan woman. Not just any Samaritan woman, but a very immoral Samaritan woman. The Jews did not associate with Samaritans which they considered to be half breeds both physically and spiritually. The other odd thing from the woman’s point of view, was Jesus asking her for a drink from a vessel she had touched. This Jewish man would make himself unclean, according to his traditions.

Jesus mindful of her confusion and perhaps realizing her receptiveness to his witness told her. “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have give you living water.

Upon hearing this she smirks that he has nothing to draw water with from this deep well and asks, Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well.

Jesus told her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed the water I give will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

The woman said sir give me this water.

Jesus said go call your husband and come back.

I have no husband she replied.

After telling her of her present and past immoral relationships they get into a discussion about worship on the mountain occupied by the well.

19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know;we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

25The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

26Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am he.”

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual[a] act of worship.2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his[b] faith. 7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

Heb 10

1The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. 2 If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. 3 But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, 4 because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

5Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:

“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but a body you prepared for me;
6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings
you were not pleased.
7 Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—
I have come to do your will, O God.’”[a]

Christ is the answer to all of your puzzling circumstances. Worship him and serve him only.

Since the Pledge of Allegiance
The Lord’s Prayer
Are not allowed in most
Public schools anymore
Because the word ‘God’ is mentioned…..
A kid in Arizona wrote the attached
NEW School prayer:
“New Pledge of Allegiance”
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God’s name is prohibited by the state.
We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They’ve outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the ‘unwed daddy,’ our Senior King.
It’s ‘inappropriate’ to teach right from wrong,
We’re taught that such ‘judgments’
do not belong.
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It’s scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school’s a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
