Have you ever struggled with what to say and how to share your faith with a non-believer? Have you been confronted with those of differing faith and been too shy to share your faith?
There is hope! In fact hope is the answer to give when these situations arise we don’t need to try to change the faith or lack thereof of the party whose company we are sharing.
Commit to memory 4 verses of scripture.
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess for he who promised is faithful.
Remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the World.
Now remember one chapter of the bible and get very familiar with what its content─ Colossians chapter 1
Paul an “apostle” of Christ, ( Apostle: one sent on a mission), [in Paul’s instance by the resurrected Christ, whose brilliant appearance left Paul blind.]). Not only was Paul commissioned by Christ, but Christ commissioned Paul in accordance with the will of God.
Paul addresses Timothy and the Colossians to whom he was writing as brothers. It is further noted not only that they are brothers but holy.
Holy persons places or things are set apart for use by God. All holiness originates with God, and all Christians are called to live a holy life, a life like God wants them to live [Lev. 21:8; Acts 3:12; 1Thess. 3:13-4:1; 1 Pet 2:9]).
These brothers are not only referred to as holy but faithful as well a rare characteristic. Proverbs 20:6… Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find.
They are called “brothers in Christ” because of their holiness and faithfulness. However it does not end there by extension those who currently are holy and faithful are all “brothers and sisters in Christ and also Gods children. In verse two Paul boldly declares to the readers of his letter that God is our Father.
Now examine verse 3 of chapter one of Colossians Paul declares God as the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The title, ”Lord Jesus Christ” when broken down and examined name by name gives us a better picture of the one it points to.
Lord: Master, sir, title of respect.
Christ: Anointed one – one specially chosen for an important purpose. The title Christ identifies Jesus as the anointed Son of God, the true Messiah, “The Savior of the world”. (Mark 14:61-62, Matt. 16:16, 27:43, Acts 10:38, Christ was Jesus’ title but also became a personal name for Jesus. John 17:3. Jesus was used most often as his earthly name while Christ is his eternal name. Christ is the Greek word for the Hebrew word Messiah.
How does one become a brother or sister to Christ and a son or daughter of God?
It is by faith and love that spring from hope that is stored in heaven, the word of truth, the gospel… Mark 1:14-15 After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “ The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”
The love of saints for God, for his Son and the gospel find their source in the Holy Spirit from whom all Christian love issues. To know God and to understand his grace, favor blessing and power in all its truth becomes the goal of all faithful redeemed saints.
Prayer of others and personal prayer asking God to fill us and fellow Christians with the knowledge of his will, his spiritual wisdom for our life and the lives of the saints and an understanding of God’s will and wisdom for each of us leads us to a life worthy of the Lord our Master and helps us to please Him. Living out Gods gifts of his wisdom and will leads to good works and growth in the knowledge of God.
God adds blessings of His strength and power and gives us great endurance and patience as we continue to mature in our understanding and knowledge of his will.
From us flows a return of thanks to God for qualifying us to share in the inheritance of eternal life in His kingdom that is God’s ultimate gift to us.
God’s eternal kingdom of light does not refer to a territory, but to the authority, rule or sovereign power of a king. Here it means that the Christian is no longer under the dominion of darkness but under the benevolent rule of God’s son.
It is Christ who redeems us and forgives all our sin.
Christ is the image of God in whose likeness we were created.
Christ is the firstborn over all creation. He created all things in heaven and on earth. He created all that is visible or invisible whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities. (Muhammad, Hitler, Stalin, Bin Laden Satan, us) all things by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He by his grace and love for all creation tolerates tyrants and despots and autocrats and evil men as well as saints.
Christ is the head of the church made up of both Jews and Gentiles.
Christ is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead Christ descended into hell bearing the sin of the whole world those born and those unborn. Christ willingly became “the cursed sinner for the universe of humanity” as a physical man.
The worst had arrived separation from God due to the weight and magnitude of his sin laden soul had made him cry “My God My God why hast Thou forsaken me”!
He now summoned every fragment of deity available to him and overcame sin death and devil for all humanity for all time.
Christ’s victory made him God’s appointed Sovereign Ruler over everything and everyone in heaven and earth. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him; and through him to reconcile to himself all things whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Once we were alienated from God and were enemies in our minds because of our evil behavior. But now God has reconciled us by Christ’s physical body through death to present us holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation─ if we continue in our faith, established and firm, not moved from the HOPE held out in the gospel.
This is the gospel that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven and of which Paul, and every saint has become a servant.
Paul’s Labor for the Church
24 Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church. 25 I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness— 26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people.
The mystery of Christ’s redemption of sinful humans and God’s purpose for them can only be revealed to them by God. The Christian mystery is not secret knowledge for a few. It is a revelation of divine truths─ once hidden but now openly proclaimed. The mystery is the fact that Christ indwells Gentiles, for it had not been previously revealed that the Gentiles would be admitted to the church on equal terms with Israel.
27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
28 He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. 29 To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.
